Rachelle J. Hruska

I had a rock collection that I polished everyday…this and playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the neighborhood boys was pretty much how I spent all of my free time from 1991-1993. I also started this other rad site: guestofaguest.com Email me at Rachelle [at] guestofaguest [dot] com Clicky Web Analytics

Flickr Pool of the Day: “Desire Paths” Michael Place explains:

A desire line (or desire path) is a path developed by erosion caused by animal or human footfall. The path usually represents the shortest or most easily navigated route between an origin and destination. Why do we feel the need to get everywhere as quickly as possible?

Desire paths are my favorite to run on. It’s funny to think about the routine running paths that I’ve become so familiar with at times, they have become a part of me.  The sprints up the “horse barn” area of our neighborhood at home, the Williamsburg and Manhattan bridges, the trail on Princeton’s lake, that stretch of land in Dumbo behind the warehouses, the ocean runs in Quogue, the path at ten mile lake in MN…I’m sure there are loads more I’m leaving out (I put in 3 years of cross country in high school after all). To all of my paths: Thanks for keeping me company on those countless hours of self discovery.
