I had a rock collection that I polished everyday…this and playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the neighborhood boys was pretty much how I spent all of my free time from 1991-1993. I Miss My Family:

From the sister’s blog today:

one of those moments a mother wants to wrap in archival tissue paper May 28, 2009 in Brotherhood

Henry can get up on William’s bed by himself.  He’ll use a stool, or the toy box at the foot of the bed or just pull himself up by grabbing the sheets.  Tonight at bedtime, he had a book in one hand but wanted up without going to get the stool or walking around to the end of the bed.  William volunteered to help him up by pulling up on his free arm with all his might (remember that Henry weighs about as much as William does) while Henry clamored to get his body up with the book still in his other hand.

“Thank you!” Henry offered.

William beamed.  He was proud to have helped him up, and in the pejorative (but somehow still sweetly protective) tone  he uses when he is calling attention to his older brother status, asked Henry, “How’s it to be up on my bed?” (as if it were some novel occurence).

“Great!” Henry answered.

“Isn’t it fun to be up here?” William continued.

“Mm-hmm,” Henry replied – his signature response with the “hmmm” a high-pitched affirmation.

While William continued on with his self-congratulatory remarks, Henry rubbed his arm.  There were red imprints from William’s fingers.  It must have stung.

But it didn’t matter.  He was on his big brother’s bed.  And his big brother had helped him get there.

I miss my family. In other news, my tumblarity is like at negative 22. Sorry I’ve been really really busy.
